Apple’s artificial intelligence just received enhanced capabilities. With the latest update, Siri is now capable of reading WhatsApp messages. Now you can ask your iPhone voice assistant to read out your latest message and reply to it without touching your device.
This is especially useful if you’re driving or doing any other activity that keeps your hands busy. But keep in mind that there are some situations where you don’t want your private messages to be read out aloud.
All you have to do is to say “Hey Siri, read my last WhatsApp message“. This will trigger Siri to read out the contact name (or phone number if you haven’t got it saved) followed by the message. After Siri has finished reading the message out loud, you can reply with your voice. This also works with multiple messages, but Siri will ask you to respond to each one separately.
Remember that this feature only works for outstanding notifications, so Siri won’t be able to read you a message that you have opened before. This new feature is part of Apple’s iOS 10.3 update and requires you to also have the 2.17.20 Whatsapp version or above. In addition, you need to give Siri permission to use WhatsApp.
If you’re on Android, there’s no news whether Google Assistant will receive a similar feature. But, from considering how these tech giants “borrowed” from each other in the past, we can expect to see an update soon.
